Hi,

I've read that adding water to whisky can sometimes make whisky smoother.
Can anybody tell me what kind of water i should use for this and how much i should add?
(I recently bought a Glenlivet 18 years old and the website added this suggestion)

Thx for helping me!

Only one drop of water can totally change your whisky. You can use water to open a whiskies secundary flavors or to bring a whisky back to a for you acceptable to drink alcohollevel. You can use wayer from the tab or from a bottle, see you live in Belgium i suggest you use Spa blauw.

Adding water to whiskey can make a huge difference. In a previous post it was mentioned that Guillon French single malt whisky is a little harsh. Add water to it and it will smooth out. You can vary the amount to get the taste you like. Some think that water added to whiskey is sacrilegious, but if it tastes better to you then go for it.

Ice will sedate your tastebuds.Cooling drinks take out the real tasteexpirience and flatten any drink and making it "enjoyable" and easy to drink.
Simple tests can you do yourself;drink the same wine out of one bottle, one glass of (white)wine chilled and one on roomtemparature to taste the diffrence. Not convinced yet?Do the same with coca-cola.Let us know if you notice any diffrenceSmile.

Ice gives you a different taste than water, temperature makes a difference. Try it, take three glasses, one with water, one with ice, and one plain. Add the whiskey of your choice and taste. Personally I like whiskey straight or with a little water after a meal. I like it with ice late in the evening.

Haha, I've never considered putting water in whiskey. I may try it the three different ways (straight, ice, water), it should be interesting to see the difference.
