My nephew gave me a bottle of Glen Morven blended Islay malt, which is the local brand from a Dutch liquorshop and it tasted surprisingly good.
No black bottle for me anymore!
Eric.

I have been drinking scotch for 10 yrs now but I have not really been introduced to blends. The only two I can remember having is Johnnie Walker Blue and Gold. Does anyone have any suggestions of other blends I could try?

Another permanent member on my whisky-shelf is the Bailie Nicol Jarvie. Good price, excellent blend in my opinion. Dennis |

No snobbery here. Blends are not my cup of tea. The only exception being Johnnie Black.
J&B,Dewar's,Cutty Sark and Ballatine were brands I had tried when first drinking scotch and I hated them. Once I had my first single malt Glenfiddich, I had finally enjoyed drinking scotch. This was a whole different experience. Since then I have tried several single malts and it seems that not all single malts are alike and are weak in comparison to JW Black .
Now, if you enjoy drinking the blends then cheers to you all. I drink what I like whether a blend or a single malt, cheap or expensive.

Ever had Old St Andrews? I really like it. Wonder if anyone knows of a "taste alike"?
