Founded 1964 as Moffat Distillery by Publicker Industries.

The distillery was originally converted from Moffat Paper Mill. The name was changed to Inver House Distillery in 1981.

Other distillery names in the same complex is Garnheath Distillery (Grain, 1965-1986), Glen Flagler Distillery (1965-1985), Islebrae (1965-1970) and Killyloch Distillery (1965-1970).
