Could anyone give me any information on Taplow's Dist.I know it was established in 1760.Mountain Music Scotch Whiskey was distilled in Scotland & blended by Marshall Taplow Ltd in Stratford London.I cannot find any info on this subject,as to whether it still operates or if closed ,when or if it was taken over by another distillery.

Hi, Marshall taplows was apparently still going late into the 1940's when I believe it was taken over by one of the large national breweries ( Courage?). I have a sketchy interest as I occassionally have the very rare toby jugs made to take the Mountain Music Whiskey bottles as a promotional item, I believe that these were produced in the 1930's period. They are usually in the form of a scotsman or a pirate and although cheaply produced in plaster are all hand painted, they are now very hard to find especially in good condition. They can be identified by the square interior, and some still retain the poorly printed Marshal Taplow paper lable on the base. I can supply pics if needed.

I actually have 6-7 of these toby jugs, all with the original paper label except for one. In most cases, the paint is worn or chipped, but the plaster underneath is in good condition. I've been trying to figure out a bit more about these, since our family's oldest recollection of these places them well before 1930. Any idea what the general worth of these things are or what the overall timeframe of their production was?
