I'm new to whisky and would like to know where can I get a good overview of the basics? I have so many questions. Like what's the difference between whisky, whiskey, bourbon, and scotch? Is bourbon whiskey the same as bourbon? What is sour mash whiskey or straight bourbon whiskey? Or are names like that just trickery? |

Try www.straightbourbon.com for a great data source for bourbon. Don't overlook the discussion forums, where many contributors to the bourbon industry -- Julian VanWinkle, Buffalo Trace brand manager Ken Weber, whiskey writer Chuck Cowdery, et al -- all participate.
The site also includes threads discussing non-bourbon whiskeys and spirits, as the members are extremely knowledgeable. |
